mLevel 2.0 is nearly here!

If you haven’t heard, mLevel 2.0 is planned for release in the next couple of months. With our second major release comes some exciting functionality as well as a completely new look. Our ongoing mission is to increase employee engagement in learning objectives AND improve learning and retention of your most important information – the things that lead to business results. mLevel 2.0 is equipped with the tools to create the best application to communicate your learning objectives clearly. Towards increasing engagement, we’ve designed our platform to increase participation and keep players excited throughout their entire experience.

We listened to our customers, gathered player feedback, and completed usability testing, all of which has helped us to hone in on making mLevel as engaging as possible. Our application has been designed to deliver an experience that appeals all types of players. Focusing on different player motivators – we’ve identified seven: competition, entertainment, achievement, compliance, social, measurement, and simply to learn – diverse elements have been introduced to fit everyone’s needs. By improving game mechanics, your mission’s games will be more fun to play. The player will feel challenged but also be encouraged with positive feedback throughout game play. The new star scoring system quickly communicates to a player how they’ve done after a single round of game play. The ability to lock games or missions will add additional motivation for players to do their best and keep playing to move forward. Group-based leader boards will provide social competition and let a player see how their score shapes up overall, and in their team or office.

We’ve significantly redesigned and unified the games within a consistent overall theme. Now, players have game goals to travel to and within different city locations by correctly answering questions about your content. A customizable storyline has been added to tie it all together. An organization can now edit their story, and make it specific to their content and their culture. A mentor has also been introduced into the game play to guide players through the mission. The mentor will appear to inform players on their progress and where they are traveling next. All of these changes enhance player engagement, by creating more of a fantasy game environment, while still focusing on the underlying learning content.

Developing our application to best showcase your content, we’ve added improvements focused on the learning objectives of your mission. Our new games introduce the concept of levels, which slow the games down and let the learners reflect on what they’ve just been asked. Cut scenes in between levels provide the player with performance feedback, as well as performance-based motivators to get players ready and focused on the next level. End-of-game feedback has also been enhanced. Instead of simply seeing their score, they will see their trouble areas and have the ability to add these to a study list. This study list can be visited and edited at any time, and gives the player one location review content they are struggling with.

One completely new element that we are extremely excited about is the Knowledge Navigator.  The Knowledge Navigator will be an activity within a mission that showcases all the content. The player can visit the Knowledge Navigator at any time, flip through at their speed and review the full content they’ve been seeing in the games. It can also be used as a great reference tool for players to look up information at any time via their device.

Come back and look for future blogs to showcase the new platform at a closer look and definitely log in and play mLevel 2.0 after our full release.
